This Week’s Big Stories
The main story that dominated this week was all about Elon and Immigration. So we will be discussing those and the small stories that are also spread throughout the week. Thank you for checking out Your Weekly America First Insight!
Elon’s Crash-Out on the One Big Beautiful Bill
So let’s start off with the One Big Beautiful Bill and Elon Musk’s crash-out. At about 1 pm Jun 3, 2025 Elon Musk tweeted out “I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore.” and “This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.” What followed was a three-hour crash-out that ultimately accomplished nothing. Elon Musk went on a massive tirade against the One Big Beautiful Bill and called upon the voters to Kill the Bill. Not once did Elon clarify specifically what he hated besides the deficit increase. In the following hours, Elon would burn all his political capital and for nothing. According to reports, essentially zero congressional offices received any phone calls to kill the bill. In the end of it, Elon is out of the White House and Trump doesn’t seem interested in repairing the relationship anytime soon.
Trump’s Immigration Wins and LA Protests
Trump’s approval rating has hit about a +0.5% rating on our aggregate and overall, Trump continues to win big on the immigration front even as radical rioters attempt to resist ICE in LA protests. So far the National Guard and Marines have been deployed to LA to help protect federal facilities as tensions in LA continue to get worse. The democratic party continues to be united under their question to support unpopular policies, as a majority of Americans disagree with the LA peaceful protests, rather wanting mass deportations to continue. Its gotten so bad that in a recent CBS poll, amongst immigrant citizens, they align with the GOP by 8 points more than they do with the Democrats. In 2020, they aligned with the Democrats by 32 points. A massive swing towards the GOP.
GOP Ties Dems as Middle-Class Party
Speaking of massive swings towards the GOP, the GOP is now tied with the democrats on being viewed as the Middle Class Party, a position the Democrats have had for decades. Another potential swing towards the Republicans might be the New York Governor. New York Governor Kathy Hochul struggled to win in 2022, severely underperforming, and now she might have two massive factors going against her. First off her own Lieutenant Governor is now attempting to primary her, and also she has to worry about NYC Mayor election. Radical Leftist Mamdani seems poised to win the election, and him winning almost certainly leads to NYC shifting right under his terrible economic policies. These combined factors should worry Hochul greatly as the perfect storm is brewing.
SCOTUS Backs Gun Makers
Gun Manufacturers took another massive win, as SCOTUS reaffirmed you cannot sue gun manufacturers for what people do with said guns, as the Mexican Government attempted to sue US Gun Makers. Another possible win coming from SCOTUS is that Alabama has sent its appeal regarding their Congressional Maps to SCOTUS. There is a chance that the Voter Rights Act of 1965, Section 2 gets weakened, which should lead to a scramble by GOP States to do a mid decade redraw, where the GOP could net up to 20 seats in the House.
Congressional Moves and Bill Amendments
In terms of things Congressmen are doing, former GOP Congressman David Jolly is running for Florida Governor as a Democrat. Tennessee Congressman Mark Green has announced he will be retiring from Congress, before the end of his term. He will be going to do some private business opportunities that have not been disclosed. He is waiting for the One Big Beautiful Bill to pass, and then he will leave. This opens up a R+20 district. Speaking of the One Big Beautiful Bill, Senator Eric Schmitt has introduced a amendment to the One Big Beautiful Bill quadrupling remittance taxes. Fully endorsed!
